A Dream Of Mine: Animation
The Craft of War: BLIND from percula on Vimeo.
I have always wanted to do animation, even for a hobby. And this is the type of stuff I think would be so fun. This is great animation. (The music, not so much). All models come from a game that a lot of friends of mine play, including my bride and myself. Too awesome!

My Low Gasoline Prediction
Because gasoline is so low, and I am sure the CEO's that were recording record profits just a year ago don't know how to handle that much money, the OIL industry will be asking for bailout because people are becoming smart. It took a while for the effect to hit them, but people got smart. Bought cars with excellent gas mileage, conserved. And now those arrogant SOB's will be sad because they aren't making their record profits.
But I dare you, Washington. I dare you to bail out these pigs. If I know the people in this country, and I sure as all get out that I do, every single numb nut in an elected office will be replaced.
One by one.

Happy to be Working!
This week, one of the hardest weeks I have ever experienced as a professional.... anything.
This wasn't our first layoffs at work. Nor do I expect it to be our last. But the reason this one was different? Well.. I will paint you a picture...
The end of October came about with an email stating that Gannett was doing a straight across layoff of about 10%. And that it will effect EVERY department. So, of course, the anxiety kicks in.
Then the week of November 14, we were told the head people at my division was meeting to decide their recommendations. The future of 10-15 people was in the hands of pencil pushers that hardly know any of us. It really sunk in for me, that week. All that hard work.. didn't matter. We were all on the chopping block with a recommendation from people who we don't always see and then they send a list of people they think they can function without, and the ultimate decision is made by people I have never met.
Was I nervous? Yes. Was I worried? Yes. Some days were worse than others, but ultimately, I left it in God's hands.
So then, right before Thanksgiving, we were told that they would give those who are being laid off, the news and that they were expected to leave that day. And that they were happening the Tuesday of December 2nd. Nothing like ruining our holiday.
Then, Tuesday rolls around. The office is completely quiet. Not a person was thinking about the news, or the paper. We were all thinking... "What if it is me?"
At about 4:30PM, we get the news... they are delaying until Wednesday.. and it will carry on to Thursday.
So.. now we have to do it all over again... two more days.
It turns out, we lost about 14 people. Some I knew. Some I didn't. Some I wished weren't leaving, and some.. well.. I hope they aren't unemployed for very long. No matter how mean they are.
So yes, I am still employed. I know there are big changes for Michelle and I, but even so.. I am so glad I am still helping in the finances.
And maybe, just maybe... I might be able to relax a little bit for Christmas.

It's been a while!
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving. A nice quiet one with just Michelle and I. We had Orange Rolls for Breakfast. We played a bunch of Video games together and then for the Epic dinner...
.. We made pizzas!
Was so very good. I implore people.. to try doing something different.. in this day and age.. its so cliche to do the Turkey thing.
Just try it!
Anywho.. post more soon :)

Glen Beck Letter to his Family:
I think all of your questions fall into three areas: (1) how did we get here; (2) what's coming; and (3) what can I do to prepare myself and my family.
Consider this email as my answer to your first question, "how did we get here?". I'll be sending you 2 more emails answering your other two questions. Since there's a lot of misinformation out there I will document each of the facts in my emails so you know where I pulled the information from and where you can go to read and learn more.
What you shouldn't do is panic. We'll get through this--don't pull all of your money out of the bank but have enough cash on-hand to meet any possible emergencies.
First, you've got to get the stock market's ups-and-downs out of your mind. The recent drops and upticks are short-term. Our economic problems are much bigger and deeper. Too many people believe that if the stock market goes up our problems are behind us and that's simply not true.
Last week the market had big drops and big upswings. In the end, the market ended down more than 800 points and lots of 'experts' were shouting it was a time to buy. I don't see it that way.
Did you know that just two days after the stock market crashed in October 1929 the market actually gained ground the next two days? The New York Times reported that "the market quickly regained its poise and stability...." Today, Wall Street 'pros' are telling us it's a good time to invest because Warren Buffet is investing. A lot of people were probably using the same argument when the Rockefeller family was buying stocks right after the 1929 crash, what they didn't know was that it would take Wall Street ten more years to see those prices again.
Our current economic crisis was caused by politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, who perverted the American Dream by treating home ownership as an undeniable right rather than what it really is, a privilege. President Bush aggressively promoted the benefits of home ownership through various policy positions, including a reckless zero down-payment initiative for some homebuyers and praised Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac even after concerns about their accounting standards began to surface.
Home ownership has always been part of the American Dream. It allows individuals and families to build wealth by having them pay themselves instead of a landlord or rental company and vests people in their communities by grounding them in local schools, stores and government.
The concept that owning a home was a privilege and not a right began to change in 1992 following a flawed Boston Federal Reserve Board study which allegedly found subtle discrimination in loan and mortgage lending by banks and mortgage lenders.
Politicians didn't care that the study was full of errors. The study found discrimination took place when five minority applicants were rejected for special low-income loans even though the applicants were rejected because they made too much money to qualify for a low-income loan, not because of their race. The report also classified as 'rejected' the applications of eight minority borrowers even though these borrowers voluntarily withdrew their mortgage applications. The study's sloppiness also went the other way.
The study reported that a white applicant was approved for a $3,115,000 loan in order to purchase a home valued at $445,000. It was later demonstrated that the actual loan was approved for $311,500, far less than $3 million reported and more importantly, less than the home's purchase price. When these and other errors were corrected no evidence of discrimination existed.
But politicians didn't care. They used this report as the basis to fix a problem which didn't exist. Leading the charge for change was President Clinton who immediately set-out to rework the Community Reinvestment Act to give federal officials the power to pressure banks to make loans they otherwise considered too risky or uneconomical.
|
Traditional lending requirements were labeled 'outdated' and discriminatory. What 'traditional lending requirements' were viewed as 'outdated' and 'discriminatory'? (1) banks were told that a "lack of credit history should not be seen as a negative factor" and that "past credit problems"
should be viewed and considered in light of any "extenuating circumstances" so loans could be extended when they otherwise would have been denied; (2) banks were encouraged to let borrowers without enough money for a down-payment make-up any deficiency with "gifts, grants, or loans from relatives, nonprofit organizations, or municipal agencies" even though banks considered this risky as the home buyer would have little or no equity in the house; (3) banks were also instructed that borrowers who received child support, welfare payments or unemployment benefits could count that as 'income' for borrowing purposes.
Call me crazy but if you need to count child support money that's intended for your child, or are in such bad economic shape that you're relying on welfare payments to make ends meet or are unemployed, maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't be buying a house. Too bad our politicians and the 'best and brightest' on Wall Street couldn't figure that out!
Community groups like ACORN, threatened to cry racism if banks didn't increase their loans to subprime borrowers. Banks typically avoided subprime loans as they carried a greater risk of default, but with law on its side, ACORN and other groups intimidated lending institutions into making such loans.
Banks soon learned, however, that making subprime loans actually could increase their profits without increasing their risk. Once the banks extended a loan to a subprime borrower that loan could then be sold by the bank to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, two government sponsored entities charged with making home ownership affordable to all Americans.
Banks, Wall Street, and mortgage lenders were soon eager to extend mortgages to subprime borrowers because they could make lots of money without carrying any risk. Fannie and Freddie carried all the risk once the original lending agency sold the loan to them. And once Fannie and Freddie bought the loan this freed up the banks to make even more subprime loans.
So everyone was a winner. The subprime borrower got the money to buy a house. The banks generated mortgages and made a nice profit and Fannie and Freddie executives made tens-of-millions of dollars in salaries and bonuses by hitting their annual goals.
The problem was that in order to keep all of this going lending standards were continually lowered to help the next level of subprime borrowers qualify for mortgages and no one had an incentive to make sure that the new subprime borrowers would actually be capable of making regular mortgage payments. The banks which extended the loans really didn't care because they were just going to sell the loan off to Fannie or Freddie. Fannie and Freddie weren't too concerned because it wasn't their money-they knew that they were insured by the 'full faith and credit' of the federal government (that's government lingo for "you and me").
So when federal regulators began to warn the executives at Fannie and Freddie about the increasing risks of non-payment by subprime borrowers the companies did nothing and when the regulators took their concerns to congress their warnings were met with scorn and contempt. The politicians who received the most political contributions from Fannie and Freddie, by pure coincidence, just happened to be their biggest defenders: Chris Dodd (D-$133,900), John Kerry (D-$111,000) and Barack Obama (D-$105,189).
Representative Barney Frank, who has been a fierce defender of Fannie and Freddie, actually said, while arguing against more regulation, "I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing.... " It's nice to know that he doesn't mind gambling with our money. Senator Chris Dodd, in praising Fannie and Freddie said, "I, just briefly will say, Mr. Chairman, obviously, like most of us here, this is one of the great success stories of all time.
"While Senator Charles Schumer said, "And my worry is that we're using the recent safety and soundness concerns, particularly with Freddie, and with a poor regulator, as a straw man to curtail Fannie and Freddie's mission."
Barack Obama has received more money from Fannie and Freddie than any other senator, with the exception of Senator Dodd, in the last four years. Before entering the senate, Obama filed a class-action lawsuit against Citibank, alleging that the bank was red-lining, or not doing enough lending in certain areas. That lawsuit was eventually settled. Arguably, Barack Obama helped cause the problem he now wants to fix.
The Federal Reserve Board was doing its part by throwing huge piles of cash at would-be home buyers by keeping interest rates too low. With low interest rates speculators began to look at houses as business opportunities, while others began to look at their homes as a giant piggy bank rather than a place where you actually lived and raised a family. Alan Greenspan encouraged this type of behavior and proudly said, "American consumers might benefit if lenders provided greater mortgage product alternatives to the traditional fixed-rate mortgages..." President Bush, responding to September 11th unwisely encouraged us to "go shopping" rather than hunker down financially and contribute to the War on Terror in other ways (can you say home equity loans?).
The SEC also shares in the blame. It failed to do its job (failed to adequately regulate mortgage brokers, the credit rating companies, and naked short-sellers), acted only after the markets froze-up (finally addressed mark-to-market rules) and refused to examine how the credit-default-swap market could grow from $919 billion in 2001 to over $54 trillion by 2008 (which allowed companies to make wild financial bets with the false confidence that 'insurance' would be there if the deal went south).
So what happened? Home-ownership rates which had been relatively constant for 25 years began a 10 year upward climb beginning in 1995, around the same time that government began its push and pressure for banks to make more subprime loans. The politicians, banks, lenders and Wall Streeters were thrilled because they were all making gobs of money.
Today we are all paying the price for the decisions made long ago. I have spoken to people involved at the highest levels and they now are all saying the same thing, "it is worse than anyone knows" and "worse than I even thought." Political and business leaders who I respect have told me that the economy is on the edge of an abyss.
The bailout is an outrage and is designed only to buy time for the politicians. It will delay the real hard times from hitting until after the November elections. Not one politician has said that this bailout legislation will put us on a better financial footing or that our economic problems will be put behind us. In fact, we'll be worse off because our politicians, even in this crisis, can't stop themselves from spending. This bill includes an extension of the rum tax benefits for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands ($192 million), tax benefits for companies which manufacture wooden arrows for kids ($6 million), car racing tracks ($128 million), a provision which forces insurance companies to treat mental health problems like physical problems ($3.8 billion) and many, many more.
International markets don't offer any better alternative. Germany, England, the Netherlands, and Russia have all come out with their own government backed bailout plans. There are now calls for more international regulation (presumably led by the United Nations) and China has taken this opportunity to call for "a diversified currency and financial system and fair and just financial order that is not dependent on the United States." Meanwhile, there is increasing international indications that the dollar will lose its place as the reserve currency of the world.
The politicians from both political parties continue to lie to us. They promise us better healthcare and more government programs. The only thing either party will be able to deliver is higher, much higher, taxes as the debt swells and government revenues fall. The same politicians remain silent, while capitalism, which brought us the highest standard of living in the world, is increasingly attacked and discredited by its enemies.
But it's not capitalism which has been discredited by our current crisis, it's greed that has been shown to be at the root of our present economic uncertainty, and greed is unfortunately a universal human trait and has demonstrated its reach in socialism, fascism, communism and capitalism. The greed of Wall Street is nothing compared to the greed of our politicians who have continued to expand their power and influence at the expense of their country.
Our children and grandchildren will ultimately pay the price for their failure to act prudently and in the best interest of our country because they will be the ones saddled with mountains of debt and diminished standard of living.
I hope that this summary gives you a better idea of how the people who caused this fire are the same ones who are now telling us that they know best how to put it out and a reason not to believe their current promises.
We have faced tough times before. We fought the Nazis in World War II, defeated communism in the Cold War and Americans fought each other to keep our country together in our own Civil War. These tough times require us to educate ourselves and help others understand what has brought us to this point and the grave consequences of what will happen if we let this continue-that is our fight.
In my next email letter I will answer the other question you asked, "what's coming?"
Sis, I know you will always consider me your crazy brother but please pass this message on to all of your friends. There are too many rumors circulating and I want to put the facts out there. This isn't about slamming the Democrats or Republicans--this is about getting the truth out to as many people as possible. The more people we can wake-up the more people we will have restoring the hope, promise and opportunity of our great country. "

8th Anniversary.. bats... and FIRE!
Next, we had a Bat visitor recently, and even though we cannot remember his original name, I thought Salacious B. Crumb was appropriate. :)
Then, last night, after smelling smoke in our house, and me, as usual freaking out looking all over for fire, decided to get dressed and see whats up outside. My first fear was that our roof was on fire, and we did see it yet. I walked outside and was hit with massive amounts of smoke. It literally looked like smoke was coming from the church about a block away. Michelle and I went and got in the truck with our camera and got some awesome shots including the one below.

Spore!
Monday shows up and I head to work with the plan on gonig to lunch to buy it. I was a little bored at work so I read some reviews.. and they were HORRIBLE! Something about a license or a DRM that would only allow you to load the game three times before you have to call in and get another install, blah blah blah... a bunch of hackers were crying. Whoopdy do. I read the five star reviews and people were actually enjoying the game.
So I buy it. And I am having a blast. For those that don't know, I am an Artist. I love to design. And this game allows me to design EVERYTHING. From the one cell creature all the way to my own space ship, car, tank, boat, and airplane... with GUNS! If you delve even deeper, you can change the color of EVERYTHING.
What a nice game. I have a blast. Spend hours on it. And, uh oh... I can only install it one more time since one went on my main PC and the other on my MAC laptop. You see... one disk allows the install on both the PC and MAC... that to me.. is the awesome in and of itself.
Buy it, fools!

To be 17 again... or just 34...
selenium
Grey, non-metallic element, atomic number 34, relative atomic mass 78.96. It belongs to the sulphur group and occurs in several allotropic forms that differ in their physical and chemical properties. It is an essential trace element in human nutrition.
Obtained from many sulphide ores and selenides, it is used as a red colouring for glass and enamel.
Because its electrical conductivity varies with the intensity of light, selenium is used extensively in photoelectric devices. It was discovered in 1817 by Swedish chemist Jöns Berzelius and named after the Moon because its properties follow those of tellurium, whose name derives from Latin Tellus ‘Earth’.
Just like my hair color....
34 is also:
- Secret meaning in Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity
- The traffic code of Istanbul, Turkey
- Kevin Schwantz's race number
- "#34," a song by Dave Matthews Band
- The magic square puzzle in the 1970s 34 Skidoo
- In the title of the 1947 movie Miracle on 34th Street, remade in 1994
- The number of the French department Hérault
- +34 is the code for international direct-dial phone calls to Spain
- The lucky number of Victor Pelevin's protagonist Stepan Mikhailov in the novel "Numbers", published as part of DTT(NN) [Dialectics in Times of Transition (from Nowhere into Nothing)]
- In the book The Count of Monte Cristo, 34 is Edmond Dantès prisoner number.
Should be a good year :)

"Oh, I would live and I would die in Sweden."
This weekend we got to visit the Swedish side of my family and meet up and catch up with some long lost cousins. Some that I didn't even know existed. Lots of pictures were taken and I will post some soon. We celebrated the 60th Anniversary of when my Dad and his family sailed to the US from Sweden. It was cool to see those that came over and to hear the stories. Thanks, Dad, was awesome :) The title is the last verse of the Sweden National Anthem:
Du gamla, du fria, du fjällhöga Nord,
du tysta, du glädjerika sköna!
Jag hälsar dig, vänaste land uppå jord,
din sol, din himmel, dina ängder gröna,
din sol, din himmel, dina ängder gröna.
Du tronar på minnen från fornstora dar,
då ärat ditt namn flög över jorden.
Jag vet, att du är och du blir vad du var.
Ja, jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden!
Ja, jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden!
Thou ancient, thou freeborn, thou mountainous North,
In beauty and peace our hearts beguiling,
I greet thee, thou loveliest land on the earth,
Thy sun, thy skies, thy verdant meadows smiling.
Thy sun, thy skies, thy verdant meadows smiling.
Thy throne rests on mem’ries from great days of yore,
When worldwide renown was valour’s guerdon.
I know to thy name thou art true as before.
Oh, I would live and I would die in Sweden,
Oh, I would live and I would die in Sweden.

America the Beautiful...
On this, our Nation's Birthday, I find myself awake too early for a day off. I heard on TV a poll. It asked a group of people if they thought the Founding Fathers would be proud of how we celebrate our nation on this, it's Birthday. Only 29% said they think the Founding Fathers would be proud. I think they would be shocked and awed, but how can you not be proud of this Nation? From a small settlement in their time, to a mega super power now. We still hold elections, and we try to get the right people into office to support our personal views, but it isn't a perfect process, and we survived. We have the most advanced Space program. Our Military is a force to be reckoned with. You and I have Freedoms that other countries die to have. So why are so many hating us? Is it jealousy? I read a lot on the Internet, and the loudest voice of the Internet hates the U.S. Why? Do they forget the good things this country does? Do they forget the opportunities that get presented to everyone here? Of course they do... we just concentrate on the Bad, the Evil, the Shock Factor. No one cares that there is good still left in this world.
I challenge you... whoever reads this... to be a "Good" and recognize the "Good" in this world, this nation, your community, your home, your marriage... and even in you. You will be a lot happier, and things will become more clear...
Going to finish up with the one song that can sum it all up. Thank you Katherine Lee Bates and Samuel A. Ward for this, a perfect summation of what this country is, will be, and should be:
- O beautiful, for spacious skies,
- For amber waves of grain,
- For purple mountain majesties
- Above the fruited plain!
- America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
- And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.
- O beautiful, for pilgrim feet
- Whose stern, impassioned stress
- A thoroughfare for freedom beat
- Across the wilderness!
- America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw;
- Confirm thy soul in self control, thy liberty in law!
- O beautiful, for heroes proved
- In liberating strife,
- Who more than self their country loved
- And mercy more than life!
- America! America! May God thy gold refine,
- 'Til all success be nobleness, and ev'ry gain divine!
- O beautiful, for patriot dream
- That sees beyond the years,
- Thine alabaster cities gleam
- Undimmed by human tears!
- America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
- And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!

WARNING! MYSTERY SHOPPER PLC letters are a SCAM!
After reading that, and looking at the check closely, I can see some horrible Photoshop work on the check, to the point I can see VOID written over it numerous times.
If you do get one of these checks, DO NOT CASH IT!
After you wire the money to "test" Western Union, then check will bounce and the bank will come after you for the money.
Be VERY Careful out there!

The Golden Elbow
Now, I do want to clarify somethings. One right off the bat, we do not gamble. Now I, like some, will have some change and drop a quarter in once in a great while for fun, but I do not have any money set aside or nothing. We go to Vegas for the shows and people watching, not to gamble.
Now, we sat there, and as we people watched, I was spun to look away from the machine and heard some noise. My elbow was resting on the machine behind me, and that machine made some noise and a button lite up. I turned to move and my elbow hit the button, and it started clicking. I looked up and it said there was 316 Credits. It was a Quarter slot machine. Now I can promise you, that when I sat down, there was no credits or anything on there, as thats one thing I do check for. I was staring in disbelief, when my bride walks over and hits "Print Credits".
There it was. $79 of credit. My lowly Elbow intimidated a slot machine to throw up 316 credits. We cashed the ticket and came away from our experience a little richer...
Some people have the green thumb. Others, the Midas Touch. I now know I have the previously unknown symptom of:
"The Golden Elbow!"

Happy M.... naw... ALL WOMEN DAY!
I am hoping, out of those who read this, them who are womens, who may or may not have kids, and over the age of .000000001 of a millisecond, had a fantastic ALL WOMEN DAY!
Here's to hoping you got a little spoiled from those you spoil with your smile, your love, your hug, your laugh, your hard work, your dedication, and your heart.
I love those that love me... even if it is a little bit.
I have found I have a large heart (NOT enlarged!). So room enough for everyone!

Bellagio.. too "B" or not two "B"?
It was simply amazing. Are new friend Dario, our personal slave as I would affectionately call him, got us everything and anything we wanted. I had the best tasting Filet Mignon and Cheesecake with fresh strawberries ever made. Their menu said if there was anything we wanted not listed they would do what they could to find it. And they do. One item we couldn't pass up was the Chocolate Strawberries:
After dinner we went walking the strip. Now this was simply amazing because of my leg injury I have been almost immobile. But since I have being seeing my therapist and have started eating better, I have gained so much energy . It was fun being able to walk around and enjoy the sites again. I think I even surprised my bride :)
When we came back they had done what my Wife called "Turn Down Service" where they cleaned up after dinner and got the bed ready for the night. They replaced all towels used and even restocked the refrigerator. The bed was soooo comfy and that little teddy bear is now named "Bella"
Again, I tell you, anyone who ever has the chance to stay at the Bellagio, DO IT! It is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. I know I will. To live like a King for even just one day. Was so nice.
Thanks, B!

Alex's Wedding: April 19th, 2008
We made the trip to Montana in one 14 hour drive up. I need to stop doing that. On Saturday, while we were there, a large snow storm moved in and dumped snow on us. Just to remind me of what I was missing.
The wedding was so elegant and nice, and my sister looked beautiful. This is right after the "I Do's":
The reception was right after and after a little while the Bride and Groom opened the night of dancing with a nice romantic dance:
And then for the first time ever in my life, that I remember, my Dad danced with Alex.
Seeing and working with the images still brings back a load of emotions. What an awesome sight. I loved being a part of it. Loved being invited, and loved being there for her.
I got to throw together a DvD that I hope she loves, and it was just awesome to see all the images and memories that were produced on this trip.
Thank you, my dear sister, for letting me be a part of that wonderful day.

Rising Gas Prices...
It is the taxes on the gas that make it truly expensive. A true tax relief would be on the pump.

Meet Fathom... so long Master Chief!
Well, since I tried to sell it many times before, I figured, ok, what the heck, I will try again. Put a great price on it and waited. To this day, I am STILL getting calls on it. Needless to say, I sold it to the first person who called on it. Well, that kind of backfired because now we only had one vehicle. So we started looking, and quickly realized the truck I was after was never going to be in St. George and the customer service here at the local lots was horrible. Down right disturbing. So we did what any fed up consumer would do and started checking Las Vegas. Ahhh, Las Vegas. Sin city. Market place of havoc.
Well, we found plenty of wonderful trucks, only to have them sold out from under us. Well, this past Thursday, Michelle happened to be off, and I asked her to look since my boss ok'd that if I found a truck we could leave asap and go get it.
Early afternoon rolled around and I get a gorgeous picture of an '08 Dodge Ram. Just about everything I want, and in a gorgeous red. So I call on it and sure enough, its there. So just to check to see if others are there, we print off another just in case.
We leave St. George at 3:30pm... only to hit their Rush Hour. Took forever to get to the Henderson side of Vegas. By the time we get there, the person I had been dealing with, left, and had gone home for the night... KNOWING mind you that I was on my way! GRRRRR. And to find out they "just sold that truck an hour ago!" OMFG! Are you kidding me?
He then tried to pitch me on a Mitsubishi Raider, saying they are basically exactly a like. HAHAHHAHAHA. What planet are you from?
We left and decided to call on the other one. He answered and I told him right off that I live in Southern Utah and have had quite a few trucks sold out from underneath me. And that if this one wasn't on their lot, I would lose it. He assured me that it was and to come in and test drive it. Well, we find out he is on the other side of town. Awesome. More traffic. Let me also add, that at this point Michelle hadn't eaten all day and I was also hungry.
We finally get there and there is a gorgeous off-red truck. We go to drive it and I notice so many nice things, until you get in. Its funny how you get used to auto windows. Auto this. Auto that. Well, I still liked it, but as we got back and the guy gave us time to talk, Michelle had a bad feeling about it. Ugh. That's the same feeling she got a few times before with vehicles, and she has been right about them each time.
Oh well, it was time to go I guess. I told the guy it was just missing some nice things, and we need to get back. "Wait!" he says, "Do you like White?". "No." "How about Silver?" - at this point, I notice Michelle perk up and knowing her new Honda was silver, I said, ok.. it wouldn't hurt to check it out. He runs out to get it.
Now here is where things changed.
I didn't even SEE the truck before I KNEW I was buying this truck.
I HEARD her. That's right. She GROWLED. Was the most energizing sound.
Long story short, after having a funny run in with her alarm system (Michelle can expand), my new truck, Extremely Affectionaly known as Fathom, is now in my possession.
Enjoy the picture. Yes, it's a HEMI, and Yes, she growls. And Yes, each time, I still smile from ear to ear.

Dear Alex,
I am so happy for you! I cannot wait until I see you again at your Wedding. Being married is the single greatest thing I have ever experienced. Yes, it is work, and sometimes extremely hard.. but the rewards are SO nice!
I can tell talking with you that you are worried that all or some of the family will not accept him for who he is. I am sure your judgment of character is right on, and if he is good enough for you, than that is ALL that matters. Sure you want us to accept him, and we will. It may take some longer than others, but they will all come around.
And damn those that don't! He is YOUR Husband! The one YOU chose!
So congrats again, sis. You are about to experience the greatest things life can offer, sure it can be rough, but you will have more lifetime experiences married, than when you weren't, I promise you.
Love you, Alex, and Michelle and I are so very happy for you. You deserve it.
Sincerely,
~Chris

All We Are Lyrics
Artist(Band):Matt Nathanson
...I kept falling over
I kept looking backward
I went broke believing
That the simple should be hard
All we are we are
All we are we are
And every day is a start of something beautiful
I wasted, wasted love for you
Trading out for something new
Well, it's hard to change the way you lose
If you think you've never won
'Cause all we are we are
All we are we are
And every day is a start of something beautiful
And in the end the words won't matter
'Cause in the end nothing stays the same
And in the end dreams just scatter and fall like rain
'Cause all we are we are
All we are we are
And every day is a start of something beautiful, something real

It's been a year...
Last year at this time, I lost my eldest brother at the young age of 38. It changed my family, and I am sad to say it didn't change it for the better.
Last year, during the summer, I nearly died. I spent more time in the doctor's office and in a wing of a hospital called the "Wound clinic" than I ever want to or think anyone else should ever have to, again.
My parents are still going through housing problems, and even more health problems than ever before and it has been causing rifts between siblings like never before.
... to remember:
We sold our condo! Finally, we can start working on getting out of debt.
We witnessed a good friend get the job of his dreams! And he gets to have fun!
I got to get to know a little brother, that because of my Mission, and getting married, I wasn't around to see him grow up.
I got a sweet sweet job in the advertising industry that allows me to be creative.
My wife got her car. Finally.
Even though there were a lot that went bad, sometimes it can over shadow the good.
Happy New Year Everyone.....
